We are only able to run Building Futures thanks to the generous support of over 50 architecture practices, who give their time, expertise and money to make it a success.
With your support, we can sustain and grow the programme, nurturing the architects of the future, and creating a diverse and exciting profession to work in.
Support a bursary
For many students the cost of starting an architecture course, never mind completing Part 2 to become a qualified architect, is prohibitive. Many talented students are deterred before they even start, and the dropout rate amongst young people from BAME backgrounds is disproportionately high.
We focus our support on those most in need, with an emphasis on diversity and under-representation. Young people use our bursaries to help with the cost of study, including architecture field trips, model making equipment, laptop, printing costs, and living costs. The money that recipients receive from the award can often be the deciding factor in whether a student can complete their studies. You can read about last year’s bursary recipients here.
It costs us £3,500 to help fund a young person through either their Part 1 or Part 2 studies. To discuss contributing to our bursary scheme as an organisation or as an individual please contact email@example.com.
Run a workshop
Our partner practices and industry experts enable us to run a series of workshops designed to support students to develop the specialist knowledge and skills they need. Workshops focus on topics including
- Employability skills training
- CV and portfolio improvement
- CAD and BIM software training
- Drawing and representation skills
- Presentation practice and how to set up your own company
We welcome suggestions for workshops that you think would be beneficial to those beginning their studies or entering the profession.
In addition to the specialist workshops we hold for architecture students, our schools programme runs workshops to inspire the next generation to pursue a career in architecture.
If you are interested in finding out more about how you can contribute to our workshop programme, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Produce a Webinar
We want to inspire young people and give them an insight into a specialism within architecture they had not previously considered. We are looking for individuals to collaborate with us to create webinars as part of the resources available on our website. Webinars will communicate the journey, interests, and specialisms of professional role models.
To find out more, please contact email@example.com.
Host a visit
The realities of the day-to-day role of an architect can be hard to imagine, so the Building Futures programme gives students the opportunity to visit live construction projects and architecture offices to learn how architecture theory is put into practice and the scale and complexities of a construction site.
If you would like to help young people learn about the industry in practice by hosting a visit, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Join our friendship scheme
By becoming a Corporate Friend of the Trust, your practice will not only provide the financial support we need to sustain and grow the programme, but you will also benefit from being part of our network. Opportunities may range from a two-week work experience placement, a paid internship or part 1 and part 2 jobs. Choose from a Bronze (£1,000), Silver (£5,000) and Gold (£10,000) membership per year.
Your employees can also choose to become an individual Friend of the Trust from as little as £5 per month.
