The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust Bursary Award intends to help
redress imbalances in the professions by helping students from black/minority ethnic (BME) backgrounds to make a significant contribution in
architecture and related professions, and by promoting the involvement of
outstanding BME people and their achievements in these fields. In 2009,
the 5 host Boroughs will provide £10,000 to fund five students (one
from each of the 5 host Boroughs - Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower
Hamlets and Waltham Forest), who intend to study architecture at
university. If successful, applicants will receive an award of up to
£2,000 to cover a 12-month period, to help with course fees and/or basic
living expenses. The Education & Business Partnerships (EBP’s) in
each of the five host Boroughs will assist with recruitment.
