School Programmes Update!

All of the students we work with on our school programmes have had a busy month. Firstly, Sedgehill has been involved in a Speed Mentoring activity. The students had 5 minutes to speak with 6 professionals from the Ministry of Justice, Fountain Court Chambers and Hachette Publishing. Following this event some of the students were able to visit Fountain Court Chambers. During this insight day, the Year 9’s met inspirational people to find out more about careers as a Barrister, Clerk and Judge. Some of the students said,

“I’d never seen a court before so that was good.”

“It has made me feel more confident in achieving my goals because a lot of them came from normal backgrounds.”


Shakespeare’s Globe and MAKE Architects kindly hosted insight days for students from Harris Academy Greenwich. After a presentation from a current apprentice and a front and backstage tour, 89% of the students said the visit to Shakespeare Globe made them feel more informed about careers in the Creative Sector. During our visit to MAKE Architects the students were given a studio tour and a model making workshop. The brief was to design their own hobby space. The students said the visit,

“Gave me a good experience of what it is like to be an Architect.”

“I learnt what a modern architectural workplace is like.”

” I am more confident about a career in Architecture because I feel like it is accessible to me.”


Students from Deptford Green visited Chapman BDSP for a morning of workshops that gave them an insight into life as a Building Services Engineer. The careers explored were Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) Engineering, Fire Engineering and Environmental Design. All of the students said they learnt more about the engineering industry from this day. Lastly, the Year 9 students visited Your Space at the Stephen Lawrence Centre for a workshop with SCRUM Educational Experience. The students got to work on designing an app for disadvantaged children who wanted to go on Work Experience but couldn’t afford to. The students said they enjoyed the workshop because they found out what it was like working in tech and learnt more about business modelling.
