Building Communities in Brent

The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust is working in partnership with Brent Council and architecture practice Adam Khan Architects to offer a number fantastic opportunities for a number of young people who live or study in Brent.

We are looking to create a Youth Action Group who are interested in architecture and the built environment, but also community engagement and liaison.

Brent Council and Adam Khan architects are drawing up plans for new and refurbished buildings and spaces, including community facilities, on the Carlton and Granville Centres site on Carlton Vale.  Through the project they wish to work closely with local people to help ensure that the much-needed facilities they are designing really meet the needs of the community.

The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust are working as an independent body to provide young people in the community a meaningful voice, and we want to work with them to host their own community event, as well as provided opportunities to help build their CV, offering work experience, industry mentors and workshops.

We are also offering:

  • The opportunity for young people to design and deliver their own community consultation event
  • Work experience placements
  • Mentoring opportunities
  • Access to free workshops

If you would like to get involved in the project, or wish to know more, please contact Neil Onions on neil@stephenlawrence.org.uk or call 02081002800
