The Chair’s Welcome

I am proud of the work we have done to enable young people to face down discrimination and overcome disadvantage to achieve their ambition to become architects with the assistance of our acclaimed international bursary programme. I am proud of the way we broadened our reach to promote access into a wider range of career opportunities. I am proud of the practical work we do inspiring many young people to achieve their dreams, to aspire.

18 years on from Stephen Lawrence’s untimely death, we are looking at our future and at how the Trust can continue to be a beacon of inspiration in changing times. There is no doubt that the political, social and economic environment in which the Trust operates is changing. The Government’s spending cuts have concentrated the collective mind of the charity sector and sharpened the need to look at different and innovative ways to do business. The Government’s localism agenda presents new and different opportunities.

With support from a range of partners, we will continue developing the Trust to become a leading sustainable social business, delivering excellent social benefit and change through our service delivery. We can learn from talented people in the business sector and shape our operational approach to maximise its effectiveness and reach. We will build a direct bridge between the young people on our programmes and successful businesses.

I very much hope we can count on your support to continue to support young people to fulfill their ambitions and dreams.
